October 24, 2010 - The Board has approved a new Bench Sponsorship Program at the Long Range - We are accepting sponsors for the new shooting benches at the 400 and 600 yard firing lines. These will be the Concrete topped benches on Cinder Block stands. We are asking for $75.00 for sponsorship. For sponsoring a bench you will get a permanent nameplate placed on a bench.

We have had a lot of interest in this so get your sponsor donation in fast, this is first come first served and there are only 24 benches. Remit funds to the Club Address below:

July 16, 2010 - The Board has approved and issued a revision to the Rules and Regulations of the club. These revised rules provide the rules for the Long Range area that will be opening in the near future.

July 10, 2010 - The Board announced that on July 15th the entire shooting range will be closed for maintenance / mowing from 8 AM to 2 PM.

June 12, 2010 - Elections were held on June 12, 2010 at the Club's Annual Meeting to elect 3 Board Members. At this meeting; Jim Cochran, Rick Detwiler, and Damon Starr were each elected to 3 year terms as Board of Directors.

June 7, 2010 - The June 8th range closure for maintenance has been moved to June 10th due to weather.

March 9, 2010 - The Board held its regular meeting and discussed the resignation of Mike McNeely and appointed Archie Guillory to fill the remainder of Mike's term that will expire September 2010.

January 27, 2010 - The Board welcomed it's 800^th member at the Safety Orientation Meeting held last night. November 6, 2009 - The recently issued rules and regulations were revised to correct a oversight. Major change is in the ARO Command Section. These revised rules have been replaced on all sections of this web site.

August 13, 2009 - The Board approved the posting on the web site information regarding helping the Plum Grove Volunteer Fire Department is raising money for our building that was destroyed in IKE by holding a Turkey Shoot and Raffle. July 29, 2009 - The range will be closed Monday August 3, 2009 from 3:00 PM to Dark for Maintenance.

June 29, 2009 - Range will be closed tomorrow June 30th from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM to perform some clearing of debris to allow mowing of certain areas of the range.

June 15, 2009 - Range will be closed tomorrow June 16th from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM to complete mowing.

June 14, 2009 - BASC would like to thank everyone that came out Saturday and helped with all the work that was accomplished. I am sure that all who use the range in the near future will be
impressed by the way the range looks and the amount of work performed by our volunteers. Thanks again for a job well done.

June 11, 2009 - Range will be closed today from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM for range maintenance and cutting.

June 6, 2009 - The Board held the Annual Members Meeting at the Baytown Community Center. The meeting began at 9:00 AM and lasted for about 90 minutes. There were about 80 members that were able to attend this meeting. Nominees for the Board and ballots were distributed to vote. Members not present will have Ballots mailed to their home. Election winners will be announced about July 10, 2009.

May 4, 2009 - The range will be dosed tomorrow 05/05/09 from 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM for maintenance and cutting of grass.

April 13, 2009 - CHL Classes are temporarily suspended.

April 11, 2009 - Over the last few days, the range house was stocked with first aid supplies to provide emergency treatment for minor injuries at the range. Today, the only item remaining is a bottle of peroxide. All of the Band-Aids, bandages, and other supplies have been removed. These supplies were intended for the safety of our members WHILE AT THE RANGE!

We ask that these supplies be returned at once. We also must ask each member to observe and report any suspicious activity or removal of club property to one of the Club Directors. After the disappearance of our padlocks recently, this is the second instance of club property being removed.

April 4, 2009 - As anyone with experience with hunting or petroleum leased properties knows, multiple padlocks allow access to different groups. Each padlock should break the chain at a different point. If any padlock is bypassed, then the owner of that padlock is denied access. In our case, the keyed lock belongs to the portable toilet company and the other combination lock belongs to the Texas Department of Transportation, which maintains Adlong Ditch and the ditch right of way.

We ask that when you lock the gate, that you avoid bypassing the other padlocks. Also, be sure you adequately scramble the combination on the lock.

Unfortunately, there also appears to be a problem with the TxDOT employees. Earlier this week, TxDOT bypassed our lock. What prevented it from being a bigger issue was that the employee shortly returned to look for lost keys and was able to remove his lock for us.

Also, Friday morning, it was reported that both of our locks, from the front gate and the range house, were missing. This should have been reported by the last person to use the gate, but it wasn't. Instead, it was reported by the next member attempting to gain access. We don't know what happened but do not suspect wrongdoing at this point. The locks may be returned to the club.

New locks were purchased and installed to correct the issue. We apologize to any members that were inconvenienced by either of these events. We have had other instances where members were either locked in or out. We hope by explaining these events and better educating our membership, we can prevent future occurrences.

We must ask that the membership call one of the Directors as soon as any irregularity with the gate lock is noticed.

March 26, 2009 - Merle Niemiec announced that she has scheduled a CHL Class on April 18, 2009. She also indicated that tentatively she is also planning CHL Classes on May 2, 2009 and May 23, 2009 based on interest. Click here to access the CHL Class page.

March 26, 2009 - Due to standing water on the range and continuing rain, the Workday scheduled for March 28th has been canceled. It will be rescheduled when conditions improve. Current information is always available on this web site.

March 10, 2009 - The previously postponed workday has been rescheduled for Saturday, March 28th. The range will be closed for the duration of the work on that day. Members are requested to show up with tractors, chain saws, lawn tools and gloves. The Board is hoping to accomplish on this day cutting the grass on each of the ranges, clean up weeds around range house and shooting lines, clear trees from access roads that were damaged by Hurricane Ike, and apply another coat of paint to the range benches. March 6, 2009 - The range maintenance that required the closing of BASC facilities has been completed and the range is open for normal use. A summary of the improvements are as follows:

Height of 200 yard berm increased to approximately 20’
Fill added to low areas of 200 yard range and graded.
A 50 yard earthen berm was added on the left side of the 200 yard range. This is to provide rifle caliber shooters a location to sight in their rifles or to do offhand shooting. The length of the berm will accommodate five shooting stations, although a full complement of benches is pending. There is a red hash mark on the slab indicating the boundary for shooting at the 50 yard berm. Benches to the right of the hash mark should only shoot at the 200 yard berm.
The height of the side berms of the handgun / rimfire range were raised to comply with the accepted specifications.
The sand surface inside the handgun / rimfire range has been graded and packed.
The parking lot has been resurfaced with crushed limestone.
The maintenance road to the rear gate has been graded and low areas filled.
From the firing line to the 200 yard berm, the maintenance road has been elevated approximately 12-15 inches and packed. This work included drainage ditches on this section.
A large culvert was added to allow transition from the maintenance road to the range surface in front of the 200 yard berm. A ditch was added to provide drainage around the east end of the berm into the pond behind, which then drains into Adlong Ditch.
The Board has provided portable, steel target bases to hold target frames. PVC sockets in the ground will no longer be maintained. The width is unchanged. One base has been placed at each shooting station on the rifle firing line. 20 bases were placed on the handgun / rimfire firing line. It would be appreciated if the bases were replaced after use. If you have built a compliant base, you may still use it.
While not of immediate benefit to shooters, a pathway was dozed through the eastern tree line connecting with a logging road there. This should improve access for our Directors and committees planning future utilization of our acreage.

February 28, 2009 - The entire facility will be closed Monday through Friday, March 2nd until March 6th, for Maintenance.

February 23, 2009 - Another CHL Class has been added to the class schedule. This class is scheduled for March 28, 2009. Merle Niemiec indicated that there may be another class scheduled on March 7, 2009 if there is enough interested participants.

February 19, 2009 - Continued rain at the range Wednesday has made it necessary to postpone the workday until the range dries out. Thanks to all who had made plans to attend. The workday will be rescheduled when conditions permit.

February 18, 2009 - The Safety Orientation for March has been moved from March 17th to March 24th.

February 9, 2009 - The range will not be closed this week as previously announced. Weather has forced the postponement of the planned maintenance work. Depending on conditions, we will evaluate when work can resume and provide updates.

February 5, 2009 - The entire range facility will be closed Monday, February 9th - Friday, February 13th for berm maintenance. The range will be open all day on Saturdays and Sundays. Progress of work will be reviewed on 2/13.

January 31, 2009 - CHL classes have been scheduled on February 7, February 14, February 28 and March 14 due to the high demand and interest. Click HERE to go to CHL Page for more information. Many of these scheduled classes are filled up so send e-mail to instructors for available spaces.

January 19, 2009 - Edmiston announced that range will be closed on January 20th from 10 AM to 2 PM for mowing.

January 1, 2009 - Rick Detwiler has agreed to take over the management of this web site. Web site to change on or before January 4th. The Board of Directors wants to express their appreciation to Ms. Tara Green who has done an excellent job of managing the web site in the past.

December 24, 2008 - The Board of Directors would like to wish each member and their family a Happy Holidays and a safe and prosperous New Year.

December 17, 2008 - January CHL Classes announced for January 11 and January 17.

November 11, 2008 - Board agrees to charge all future participants $10 each to attend Safety Orientation classes to cover meeting facility costs.
